KidsHealth.org, the largest provider of online and video content about children's health and development, announced the launch of its new iPhone app for parents called Is It Contagious? The easy-to-use app puts KidsHealth's trusted health information and advice at parents' fingertips. Featuring 85-plus infections and illnesses, the app answers the most common questions parents ask, starting with "Is It Contagious?"
Is It Contagious? helps parents identify and assess the contagiousness, symptoms, treatment, and prevention of the most common childhood conditions. The app includes multiple features, including an A-Z conditions library, information on how to treat symptoms, and an image gallery of photo-realistic illustrations of infections as they appear in children.
"KidsHealth has always provided the most up-to-date doctor-approved children's health information on the web," said Dr. Neil Izenberg, founder and chief executive of Nemours' KidsHealth.org. My Pediatrician Online Provides Personalized Pediatric Medical Advice

An innovative medical website at MyPediatricianOnline.com has launched. Unlike anything currently available on the Internet, the site has been developed to provide parents with personalized online pediatric advice and information directly from a board certified pediatrician.
For the first time parents have unlimited, continuous access to an online pediatrician. Parents who join My Pediatrician Online are able to ask a pediatrician as many questions as they wish as often as they like, and receive a prompt answer normally within minutes. Whether they are at home, the office, or on vacation, parents can now use their computer to keep in constant contact with an online pediatrician they can turn to whenever and wherever they have questions about their child’s health.
My Pediatrician Online is a much needed service, particularly for families who for whatever reason may not have access to a pediatrician at the moment. Unfortunately, there seems to be more of these families every year. The Journal of The American Medical Association estimates that more than 9 million children in the United States currently do not have health insurance. That number doubles if you include those children who have breaks in their health coverage throughout the year. On February 25, 2009 the Kaiser Family Foundation released a survey of 1200 adults that speaks volumes about the present lack of affordability of health care in the United States. The survey found that more than half of those polled said someone in their household cut back on needed health care in the past 12 months because of cost concerns...click to read moreMonday, January 28, 2008
Help Kids Write Short Stories With Short-Stories-Help-Children.com
Short-Stories-Help-Children.com provides a welcome twist to parenting and enables kids to publish stories and solicit comments. Originally launched in December of 2006, the site aims to cut through much of the tedium of learning from the parenting professionals.
Short-Stories-Help-Children.com is a light-hearted, refreshing look into parenting for those moms and dads struggling with their first gradeschoolers. It deals with raising kids in today's complex world of marketing hype, peer pressure and behavioural issues.
The site provides commentary about educational methods, literacy in its various forms, learning disorders, distractions that hurt productivity, discipline and violence in schools to name a few. The site also invites parents to share their experiences. Basic concepts are clarified by the analogy of writing short stories to show parents how to focus a child's attention and efforts...
